In October 2005, the first university structure with responsibilities in the field of quality assurance was established, the Vice-Rectorate for Academic Evaluation and European Integration. Subsequently, in March 2008, the Center for Evaluation and Quality Assurance was established within the same Vice-Rectorate, renamed the Vice-Rectorate for Academic Evaluation and Quality Assurance (HS No. 4/2008). The structure and responsibilities of the center have been redefined over time and are currently part of the Vice-Rectorate for Quality Assurance and International Relations, under the name of the Quality Assurance Department (according to HS no. 4/2012). The department is staffed with specialized personnel, psychologists, and sociologists, who are involved in developing specific evaluation tools, analyzing the results obtained, and drafting reports evaluating the university’s teaching activities.
Currently, QAD operates in accordance with the Regulations on Organization and Functioning
(Senate Decision No. 13/26.11.2020, Point 8; Annex No. 5, revised by Senate Decision No. 8/22.07.2022, Point 16, Annex No. 14; revised by Senate Decision No. 6/03.06.2024, Annex 4), with its main responsibility being the development and implementation of the internal quality assessment and assurance system through:
- Organization and implementation of internal evaluation processes on the university’s IT platform: semester evaluation of teaching activities and examination methods by students; evaluation of study programs by bachelor’s and master’s degree graduates; multidimensional evaluation of the Doctoral School; self-evaluation and annual reporting of activities by teaching staff, doctoral students, and research staff at the university;
- Developing appropriate action strategies for the problems identified in order to optimize the quality assurance process at the university level;
- Continuous adaptation of the quality assessment and assurance system in accordance with national (ARACIS) and European (EUA, ENQA) regulations, both general and specific to medical education;
- National and international cooperation in the field of quality assessment and assurance.
The Department provides support and advice to university structures in the processes of external quality assessment and validation of qualifications. The Department’s staff provides data to agencies that compile international academic rankings and, at the same time, monitors the university’s results in these rankings.
The results of the Department’s activity are available in the section: Quality Assurance Processes within the University.
