“Donate blood, be a hero!”
“Donate blood, be a hero!”, one of the longest-running blood donation projects in Romania, was founded in 2001 in Cluj-Napoca by UMF “Iuliu Hațieganu” students. Its aim was very clear from the beginning: to promote the importance of blood donation in Cluj-Napoca. Over time, the project has grown and expanded nationwide, and now it includes students from all medical universities in the country. Currently, blood donation campaigns are organised in all blood transfusion centres in the country, as well as in Chisinau.
The campaign, which has already become a tradition throughout the country, has been passed on from one generation to the next, so that for 22 years now, the students have managed to carry forward the mission they have undertaken, namely the promotion of blood donation. To this end, they organise several blood donation campaigns each year and inform the public about the ongoing need for blood transfusions for hospital patients, as well as encouraging registration in the Stem Cell Donor Register.
In Cluj-Napoca, blood can be donated at the Blood Transfusion Centre at 18 Nicolae Bălcescu Street from Monday to Friday, between 07:30 AM to 1:30 PM.
