NeurotechEU Summer School: “Neural Networks, Manipulation, and Ethics”

The University of Bonn, Germany, invites master’s and PhD students from the NeurotechEU alliance to participate in the Summer School “Neural Networks, Manipulation, and Ethics”, which will take place from September 8-12, 2025.

Topics covered:

  • The distinction between manipulation, persuasion, and coercion
  • Neural mechanisms of manipulation in both humans and AI
  • Ethical implications of AI-human interaction
  • Regulation and ethical AI implementation in various sectors

Program format:

Participants will engage in lectures by experts, interactive workshops, and an ideathon organized in collaboration with top German companies in artificial intelligence and neuroscience. The program will also include cultural events, offering insights into the history of the city of Bonn.

Who can apply?

  • Master’s and PhD students from NeurotechEU partner universities
  • Each university can select up to four participants
  • Applications must be submitted through the home university, which will forward the list of selected candidates to the University of Bonn by May 31, 2025

Selection timeline at UMF “Iuliu Hațieganu”:

  • February 28 – March 15, 2025 – Submission of application files in electronic format to mobility@brainscience.ro
  • March 17-21, 2025 – Evaluation of applications
  • March 25, 2025 – Publication of final results on the UMFIH website

  • NeurotechEU mobility application form (Annex 1)
  • Internal mobility agreement (Annex 2)
  • Candidate’s CV in EuroPass format
  • Copy of ID card
