Students from UMF “Iuliu Hațieganu” are invited to apply for the NeurotechEU Winter School “Smart Sleep: Exploring the Future of Sleep Measurements”, taking place from 15 to 18 February 2027 at the Medical University of Innsbruck, Austria, following an online kick-off meeting in January 2027.
Organised by the Medical University of Innsbruck in collaboration with Radboud University, Reykjavík University and Karolinska Institutet, the Winter School explores how emerging sleep technologies are shaping everyday life, research and clinical practice.
Through lectures, hands-on labs and team challenges, participants will explore the use of wearables, nearables and self-applied systems for at-home sleep monitoring, bringing together perspectives from neuroscience, medicine, engineering, data science and industry.
Topics will include:
- sleep physiology and pathophysiology;
- current sleep measurement technologies;
- biomedical signal processing and AI methods;
- data quality and validation;
- integration of sensor data and subjective app-based measures;
- usability, regulation and clinical integration;
- responsible implementation of at-home sleep monitoring technologies.
Participants will work on challenge-based projects and present their proposed solutions at the end of the programme. The course awards 2.5 ECTS credits.
Who can apply: Advanced Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD students with a background in neuroscience, psychology, biomedical engineering, computer science/data science, medicine or related fields.
