For three days, from 20-22 May, our university has been hosting an evaluation visit by a committee of experts from the Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating (IAAR, Astana, Kazakhstan), recognized by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME). The aim of this visit is the international accreditation of the study programs of the Faculty of Medicine, Romanian, English and French lines, according to the standards of this federation.

The work of the committee of evaluators includes meetings and discussions with representatives of the management of our university and the Faculty of Medicine. The evaluation programme also includes discussions with students, graduates, teaching staff, representatives of the administrative structures of the university, as well as public and private health employers. During the visit, the expert committee visited the educational premises and witnessed the teaching activities, both in pre-clinical and clinical settings.

Once obtained, such an accreditation certifies the quality of education offered by a medical school. At the same time, the experts’ recommendations can be an important support for the further development of the quality of medical education offered at the “Iuliu Hațieganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
